Erie Canal ll

A gate on the Erie Canal.
The gate is closed in the winter to stop water from flowing in the canal.

One last note.
If you ever lock through, NEVER tie up to the lock.
There are ropes that run from the top to the bottom.
The ropes are about 20 ft apart.
Put a mooring line behind the rope and let it slid up and down the rope.
I use a short line(2 ft) with a loop at both ends for that purpose.
